"Carnets Geol." [ISSN 1634-0744] was established in 2002 to provide an alternative and progressive means of presenting papers in the field of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and paleontology, but submissions on related subjects are considered also feasible. To date, the papers are in English or in both English and French, but submissions in Spanish, German, or Italian are invited. All must include an abstract (even extended abstracts) in English and French. To benefit from the advantages of electronic publishing, among which is great flexibility, new issues of "Carnets Geol." are not scheduled. Each new contribution accepted by the editor(s) and reviewers is presented in the form of a numbered issue published online as soon as any revisions deemed necessary have been made and approved by the author(s). There are three categories of contribution: Current issues are hosted by Paleopolis using the "Red IRIS" server in Spain. Archives are currently hosted by the "Red IRIS" in Spain, the "Université libre de Bruxelles" in Belgium and the "INIST-CNRS" in France. Last but not least, all post-prints are automatically posted to HAL (Hyper Article on Line), the main French scientific open-access institutional repository. Copies of the CD-ROM version of "Carnets Geol." are deposited semi-annually in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris as a permanent archive and record of our publications. Contact us if you want to get one or more for your records or to establish a subscription. Note that the ISSN number of this CD-ROM version is different from that of the online version. "Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in the published articles are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editors." "Carnets Geol." is on the short list of Open-Access Journals covered in GeoRef.
