The journal "Annalen des Naturhistorischen Museums in Wien" is an international scientific journal, appearing annually in April/May. It contains original papers by the museum staff, their co-workers and invited authors. The journal focuses on topics related to the scientific collections of the Natural History Museum and current research programs at the museum.
From volume 84 (1980) the journal was split into three series: (Series A, Series B, und Series C).
Series A contains papers relating to Mineralogy, Petrology, Geology, Palaeontology, Archaeozoology, Anthropology, and Pre-History.
All submitted manuscripts will be strictly peer-reviewed. Longer articles and monographs are welcome (there is no page limit). Colour illustrations are possible upon request.
Paper published prior to 2008 are available freely as pdf-files.
Through an exchange service, the journal is distributed to 800 scientific institutions worldwide.
The journal is indexed in GeoRef, BIOSIS Previews and Zoological Record.
